Clinical questions

Benjamin Grysman, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and our clinical reviewer, can speak to what residential treatment involves, how conditions are assessed, and what families should ask a program before admission. He does not comment on individual centers or on pricing.

Market questions

The editorial desk covers what the sector looks like from the outside: intake sizes versus marketing claims, what accreditation actually certifies, how pricing works at this end of the market, and how programs present themselves. We read the whole field rather than one operator’s version of it.

What we won’t do

We do not place patients, recommend a single program for an individual, or share enquiry details with anyone. We won’t provide a quote endorsing a specific center, and we won’t confirm whether a named person has been in treatment.

Reporting

What we have data on.

Areas where we hold assembled, sourced material rather than opinion, and can show the working:

  • The gap between marketing and intake size. Programs marketed as “six-bed” that run multiple houses or rotating cohorts, and what that changes clinically — see our six-bed ranking.
  • Which well-known programs don’t clear a verified rating floor. Our Malibu guide names them, with ratings transcribed from live profiles.
  • What accreditation certifies and what it doesn’t — Joint Commission, CARF, NAATP, LegitScript, and where each is meaningful.
  • Cost structure at the top end — what drives the number, and why published rates are rare. See our ranked drug rehab directory.
  • Treatment and senior leadership — how programs handle executives who cannot go dark for thirty days, covered in our executive rehab guide.

We can usually turn around a comment or a data pull the same day. Deadlines noted in the first line get priority.
