Vaulted glass doors slide open onto a lanai that looks out over the water. Coconut, palm and banana trees surround the property, and there is a pool and a hot tub.⁶

Maui Recovery treats food as part of recovery: professional chefs cook gourmet meals on menus built around each guest’s dietary needs and tastes.⁶

Maui Recovery uses the ocean as “an active participant” in its therapy.⁷ Surf sessions are guided by therapists or instructors, and surfing has deep roots here: heʻe nalu, as Hawaiians call it, goes back to the early Polynesian settlers of the islands.⁸
