The Kusnacht Practice, reviewed.

The model is the one Switzerland is known for: you are treated in a private house rather than a ward, with a clinical team working around you. The practice puts it more bluntly than most — it says it has more doctors than guests. The disciplines it lists run wider than a conventional residential program: psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists, internal medicine doctors, longevity doctors, precision-medicine specialists, complementary therapists, nutritionists, personal trainers, and nurses.

What it treats is broad. Alcoholism and nicotine addiction, anxiety disorders, PTSD, depression, trauma, bipolar, burnout, sex and love addiction, pathological gambling. Then, alongside all of that, overweight and obesity treatment, internal medicine, aesthetic medicine, and a proprietary BIO-R® method marketed for rejuvenation and longevity.

That last part is worth pausing on, because it is unusual. Most programs at this level treat psychiatric illness and addiction and stop there. Kusnacht sits at the meeting point of a psychiatric clinic and a longevity practice. Whether that reads as comprehensive or as unfocused depends entirely on what you are going there to do.

The practice states it plainly on its own pricing page: “Our programmes begin at CHF 117,300 per week.”¹Begin is the operative word — that is the floor, not the average. A four-week stay therefore starts near CHF 469,200.

Credit where it is due: publishing a number at all puts Kusnacht ahead of most of its peers, and the fee genuinely covers everything rather than opening the door to a bill that grows. Included:

Billed separately: travel to and from Zurich, medical expenses unrelated to the program, and continuing care after discharge.

For scale — and this is the comparison worth holding on to — Amend Malibu, the six-guest mental-health program we rank first in Malibu, charges $90,000 for a thirty-day stay, a figure the program supplied and approved for publication here.²One week at Kusnacht costs more than Amend’s entire month. That is not an argument against Kusnacht. It is the fact that should make you ask precisely what the additional money is buying for your situation.

There is no insurance route. Fees are paid directly by the guest, and the practice does not work with insurance providers. Swiss residents on mandatory Swiss cover may reclaim part of the medical services afterwards under federal health insurance law; everyone else should read this as fully private-pay.

The practice names Eduardo Greghi, CEO and Chairman, and describes its clinical team by discipline: psychiatrists, psychologists, internal medicine and longevity doctors, and nurses.³ Swiss clinics operate inside cantonal health-authority licensing, and programs at this tier are often discreet by design about what they put on a public website.

So ask on the call, as you would of any program: the medical director’s name and credential, and which cantonal authority licenses the clinic. Both are reasonable questions before a stay that starts near half a million francs, and a good program answers them without friction.

Some Swiss clinics publish the answer up front. Just along Lake Geneva, Clinic Les Alpes states that it is a medically-licensed clinic of the Swiss Department of Health — a useful thing to see in writing, and a good example of what to ask for.⁴

It suits someone for whom absolute privacy is the binding constraint rather than a preference — a public figure, a founder, someone whose being recognized in a group program would itself be the problem. It suits people who want the medical side of a stay taken as seriously as the psychiatric side, and who will actually use the internal-medicine and longevity work rather than treating it as decoration on an invoice.

It suits far less well if what you need is concentrated psychiatric or addiction care and nothing else. At that point you are paying a substantial premium for breadth you will not touch, and Paracelsus Recovery a few kilometres along the same lake is the more focused program. It also suits poorly if you need to verify credentials before you commit, because today you cannot do that from the website alone.
