It pairs psychological testing and a psychiatric evaluation with individual psychotherapy four times a week, family meetings and life in a therapeutic community. At the end, some patients return to outpatient care, and most choose to stay on.³

The six weeks cost $97,000, including a $2,500 admission consultation fee, with a $60,000 refundable payment due on the day of admission. Riggs is not in network with any insurance plan, and it offers need-based financial assistance of up to 35%.³

Amend Malibu is a residential program on the Malibu coast that admits for mental health as the primary reason: depression, bipolar disorder, complex trauma and personality disorders. Every stay opens with an assessment, and that assessment sets a personalized four-week treatment plan.⁴ The team includes a clinical neuropsychologist, Dr. Daniel Hai, whose work centers on assessment for complex cases with several possible explanations, and a medical director, Dr. Robert Feeley, a double board-certified psychiatrist.
